To calibrate the probe using Simple Calibration

Calibrate a probe tip by taking only one calibration point.

Instead of calculating the probe-head offset, probe-tool offset, and probe diameter by taking multiple points on a calibration sphere, simple calibration uses the nominal offsets of the probe head and probe diameter, and one calibration point to calculate the offset of the probe tool. This enables you to quickly change the probe assembly and adjust the probe orientation during measurement.

Note: Simple Calibration is available only when creating inspections for CNC machines or manual CMMs.
  1. In the Machine tab, click the Calibrate button. The Calibration and Positions dialog is displayed.

  2. Select the Calibrate option.
  3. Orientate the probe.
  4. In the position list, select the location with which you want to calibrate the probe.
  5. Move the probe tip to the selected position, and click the Acquire position button. Alternatively, click the Measure point button and probe the position.
Note: To capture the coordinate for each axis separately, select the Measure axis after axis check box, and probe each axis in turn.
  6. Click Close. You can now inspect the part using the selected probe orientation.
