Instead of assigning a specific alignment to items when you add them to the inspection sequence, you can use the
<Active Alignment> option in the
Coordinate System list to specify the alignments during the inspection. Only one alignment at a time can be active, so, when you select a new entry in the
Active Alignment list,
PowerInspect automatically recalculates the measurements of all items that have a
Coordinate System setting of<Active Alignment> relative to the new alignment.
You can select a different active alignment for each
Measure in an inspection document.
To choose an active alignment for an item in the inspection sequence:
- Open the dialog of the item.
- In the
Coordinate System list, select <Active Alignment>.
- Click
OK to save your changes.
- Before you play the inspection sequence, select the alignment in the Alignments & Datums tab > Current Alignment panel. Select:
- An alignment item to always use the specified alignment. In the inspection sequence, the item is displayed with gold axes
to indicate it is the active alignment.
- <last alignment> to use the alignment item nearest the end of the inspection sequence as the active alignment. The item is displayed with silver axes
to indicate it is the active alignment.
- <last calculated> to use the last measured alignment item as the active alignment. If no alignments are measured, the last alignment in the inspection sequence is used as the active alignment. The icon of the item is displayed with silver axes to indicate it is the active alignment.
The
Status bar displays the name of the current alignment and the positions of all items with a
Coordinate System setting of
<Active Alignment>
are calculated relative this.
Note: When the active alignment is an uncalculated Best Fit item,
PowerInspect uses the alignment on which the Best Fit is based, and the axes of the alignment icon are displayed in bronze

. If the reference alignment is also uncalculated,
PowerInspect uses the last calculated alignment in the inspection sequence.
