To select point-cloud points within a geometric feature

To select points of a 3D geometric feature in a point cloud and use them to create an item:

1. Display the point-clouds in the CAD view.
2. Click Point Cloud tab > Select panel > Pick Mode > Feature.
3. In the inspection sequence, select the geometric group in which you want to create the item.
4. Right-click the CAD view, and select the type of feature you want to detect from the context menu. Alternatively, select Auto to identify the feature type from the selected points.
5. In the point cloud, left-click the feature. The selected points are highlighted.

   To change the selection criteria, right-click the CAD view and select Set Parameters for Feature Fitting from the context menu.

6. Right-click the CAD view and select a paste option from the context menu to create an inspection item. PowerInspect displays a dialog showing details of the detected feature.
7. Click to save the points to a new item and close the dialog.
