To work with resetting, editing, and deleting measures

Reset items to unmeasured

To reset the status of all sequence items to unmeasured, select Home tab > Edit panel > Reset > Reset All. This option resets items only in the active measure. Measurements in other measures are not affected.

To reset the status of only selected sequence items to unmeasured, click Home tab > Edit panel > Reset > Reset.

Note: These options reset items in the active measure. The measurements of the items in other measures are unaffected.

Edit the selected measure

  1. Select the active measure from the on the Measure tab > Current panel.
  2. Select Measure tab > Edit panel > Edit. The Edit Measure dialog is displayed.
  3. Click Load template variables to list the variables specified in the currently selected report template.
  4. To change the value of a parameter that is displayed in the report, click the cell in the column on the right, and overtype the value.

    If you specify a variable that is not defined in the current report template, the variable is not displayed in the report.

  5. To save the values as the defaults to be used when you create other Measures, select the Save as default parameters check box.
  6. Click Part compensation.
  7. If you are comparing a part with the model of its mold, or a mold with the model of its part, and want to override the default Shrinkage factor:
    1. Select Use different shrinkage factor for this measure.
    2. Enter a new Shrinkage factor.
  8. By default, models are assumed to represent the dimensions of a part when measured at 20 degrees Celsius, and no compensation is made for the temperature of the part. If you want to adjust the results of this Measure for the effects of thermal expansion:
    1. Enter the Temperature of the part in degrees Celsius.
    2. If you want to override the default coefficient of expansion, select Use different thermal expansion coefficient for this measure, and select a new option in the Thermal expansion coefficient list.
    3. To use the Temperature value as the default for new Measures, select the Save as default temperatures check box.
  9. Click OK to create the Measure and select it in the Active Measures list.

Delete measures

Use this option to delete user-defined Measures, and any associated results, from a document.

To delete Measures:

  1. Click Measure tab > Edit panel > Delete. The Delete Measures dialog lists the Measures you have created in the document.

    You cannot delete the Measures created by PowerInspect, such as Master part.

  2. Select the Measures you want to delete.
  3. Click the Delete Selected button.
  4. When you are asked to confirm the deletion, click Yes. The Measures are deleted and the dialog is closed.

    If you delete the currently selected Measure, the Active Measure list reverts to <no measure>.
