To apply tip-compensation to the DRO

By default, the DRO displays the coordinates of the probe centre. Use this dialog to specify the direction of compensation if you have selected the Compensate contact point coordinates check box.

Note: The DRO is available only for use with CNC and Manual machines.

To specify the direction in which you want to apply the compensation:

  1. Click Tools tab > Machine panel > DRO.
  2. In the PowerInspect DRO dialog, click Set up compensation. The Tip diameter compensation dialog is displayed.

  3. Choose a compensation option. Select:
    • Along axis and select an entry in the list to apply compensation along that mapped axis.
    • Along vector and enter a vector to apply compensation in the specified direction.
  4. Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog. When the Compensate contact point coordinates check box is selected, the coordinates are automatically compensated by the probe radius in the specified direction.
