To project point-clouds

Use the Point Cloud tab > Project panel > Point Cloud option to compare the selected point clouds with the CAD model and show the deviation of the points from their nominals.

Note: This option is available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.

To project points onto the model:

  1. In the inspection sequence, select the Point Cloud item you want to project.
  2. Click Point Cloud tab > Project panel > Point Cloud.

    The progress of the projection is shown at the bottom left of the graphics window. When the projection is complete, PowerInspect uses the colours specified in the Tolerance Band page of the Options dialog to indicate whether points are above, within, or below tolerance. You can also use the Point-Cloud tab to view the deviation between the measured position of each point and the CAD surface.
