To match probes to the I++ protocol

Map document probes to corresponding probes in the I++ Server.

When you connect to a measuring device using the I++ protocol, you must create and calibrate the probes in the I++ Server. If the names of the probes specified in the server match the names of the probes specified in the inspection document, the server probes are automatically mapped to the document probes. If you have used different probe names in the server and the document, use this option to manually map the document probes to the server probes.

  1. In the Machine tab, create the probe tool assemblies and probe positions you want to use in the inspection sequence.
  2. Create and calibrate the probe tools in the I++ Server.

You cannot create or calibrate probe tools in the probe database when PowerInspect is connected through the I++ protocol.

  3. Click Tools tab > Machine panel > Connect to connect the document to the I++ Server.
  4. In the Machine tab, click Synchronise Probe Databases.

The I++ Probe Matching dialog is displayed. The Machine probe tools list contains the tools specified in the I++ Server; the Document probe tools list contains the probes and probe positions specified in the active document.

Note: The Synchronise Probe Databases button is displayed only when a CNC inspection is connected to the measuring device using an I++ Server.
  5. By default, the dialog lists all the probe positions defined for the measuring device and the document. If you want to list only the probe assemblies, deselect the Show all positions check box.
  6. In the Document probe tools list, select a tool defined in the document.
  7. In the Machine probe tools list, select the tool you want to use when the selected document probe tool is specified.
  8. Click Set Match to save the assignment. The tools are displayed in the matched tools list at the top of the dialog.

If you have specified a match for a star probe, click Sensor Matching to specify or edit the match for each probe tip.

  9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 for each probe tool specified in the document.

If you want to change a match, select the entry in the matched tools list and click Change match. If you want to cancel a match, select the entry in the matched tools list and click Reset match.

  10. When you have matched all the entries in the Document probe tools list to an entry in the I++ Server, click Close to link the probes and close the dialog.
Note: The Synchronise Probe Databases button is displayed only when an inspection is connected to the measuring device using an I++ Server.
