To Map Sections and Materials

Assign best matching materials and sections from a source application to materials and sections in a target application if they cannot be assigned automatically.

The Mapping of elements dialog opens if the extension cannot automatically assign materials and sections from Advance Steel databases to materials and sections in Robot databases. It may result from differences in element names between databases in the source and target applications.

To assign sections and materials

  1. On the Standard sections tab, click Not assigned next to the section to be assigned manually.
  2. In the Selection dialog, select a database and a section, and click OK.

Select a section which best matches the unassigned section.

  3. On the Materials tab, repeat these steps for unassigned materials.
  4. In the mapping of elements dialog, click OK.

After you click OK, in Robot, the selected sections and materials replace the not assigned sections and materials.

To map Advance Steel sections to User sections in Robot

You can create your section label in Robot and map an unassigned section from an Advance Steel model to it.

  1. In Robot, define your section label. For example, create a compound section: 2 C-sections back to back.
  2. In the Mapping of elements dialog, click Not assigned next to the section to assign to your section label.
  3. In the Selection dialog, navigate to the section label that you created, select it, and click OK.
