Civil 3D Model Viewer Objects Panel

Select objects to be viewed and discover their display options in the Civil 3D Model Viewer.

Click Objects in the Viewer Toolbar to display the Objects Panel.

Object Selection and Removal

To add new objects to the Model Viewer with the Object Panel.

  1. Click Add Objects.

    The Model Viewer minimizes to display the Civil 3D canvas in selection mode.

  2. Select one or more objects to add to the Model Viewer.
  3. Press Enter to complete the selection.

    The Model Viewer reopens displaying the additional objects in both the object list and canvas.

To remove objects from the Model Viewer with the Object Panel

  1. Right-click the object to be removed in the Object Panel list.
  2. Select Remove in the context menu.

    The object is removed from the object list and no longer displays in the Model Viewer canvas.

    Tip: You can also remove objects from the Model Viewer in the Civil 3D environment. In Prospector (or in canvas), right-click the object and select Remove from Model Viewer in the context menu. this may also be accomplished with multiple selected objects.

Object Display Options

To hide or display all selected objects in the Model Viewer

  1. Click Show All to display every selected object in the Model Viewer.
  2. Click Hide All to hide every selected object in the Model Viewer.
    Note: Both Show All and Hide All affect every selected object regardless of their current state.

To hide or display specific objects in the Model Viewer

    Each object in the Objects Panel list has an icon that indicates its visibility:
    • Show. The type, group, or individual object is visible in the Model Viewer canvas.
    • Hide. The type, group, or individual object is hidden in the Model Viewer canvas.
  1. Click to hide a currently displayed type, group, or individual object. The icon will change to the hidden state.
  2. Click to show a currently hidden type, group, or individual object. The icon will change to the visible state.
    Note: Hiding or showing an object type or group will affect all subsequent objects in the hierarchy.

Object Navigation

Right-click any object in the Object Panel to access quick navigation options.
  • Pan to. Centers the selected object in the Model Viewer canvas.
  • Zoom to. Zooms the selected object to the extents of the Model Viewer canvas.
