Upstream / Downstream Network Trace

The Upstream Network Trace and Downstream Network Trace tools allow you to trace from any node or link in the network to the upstream / downstream extents of the network. The trace assumes that the network connectivity (pipe direction) is correct. The tool simply traces all possible upstream / downstream paths from the selected starting point. If the trace stops before reaching the extent of the network, then the link where the trace stops may not be connected.

To carry out a trace:

Click on the (for upstream trace) or the (for downstream trace) button on the Selection Toolbar.

Tip: When using a trace tool, you can carry out a trace in the opposite direction by clicking the button and then holding down the ctrl key while clicking on a node or link. For example, the combination of the upstream trace tool and the CTRL key will result in a downstream trace being performed.
