GeoExplorer zones provide a method for specifying geographical areas on the
GeoExplorer window that correspond with
asset areas.
Asset Groups,
Networks and
Workspaces can be
associated with zones. Associated items can subsequently be opened via the
GeoExplorer window.
Creating GeoExplorer zones
GeoExplorer zones can be
digitised on the
GeoExplorer window or created from network information. Zones can also be imported via the
Open Data Import Centre or from
CSV files.
Creating zones from network data
GeoExplorer zone boundaries can be created by using network information or by defining a bounding box.

To create a GeoExplorer zone from network information
- Drag a
assets Group, network or workspace from the
Explorer window into the
GeoExplorer window.
- The
New Database Item dialog is displayed. Type in a unique name for the GeoExplorer zone and click OK. The
Add / Update GeoExplorer Zone Boundary dialog will be displayed.
- To create the zone boundary using network information:
- Drag and drop a network into the selection box, or use the
to browse for a network.
- Select the option to be used for creating the boundary:
- Network Extents: a zone boundary will be created based on the outermost network node locations.
- Polygon with ID: select a network polygon from the dropdown list. A zone boundary will be created based on the network polygon boundary.
- Click OK to update the zone boundary.
- To create the zone boundary using a bounding box:
- Check the Bounding Box option on the
Add / Update GeoExplorer Zone Boundary dialog.
- Define the coordinates and dimensions of the bounding box.
- Click OK to create the zone boundary according to the defined parameters.
Exporting GeoExplorer zone data
GeoExplorer zone data can be exported to external data sources via the
Open Data Export Centre, or by using the
export to external files functionality.
Right click on the GeoExplorer item in the
Explorer window and select an option from the Export submenu.
