TIN Ground Models can be imported from several different formats and exported to
InfoAsset Manager standard (.IMM) format.
Importing a TIN Ground Model
TIN ground model files can be imported into
InfoAsset Manager in several different formats:
- Arc/Info ungenerated TIN format (.NET)
- ESRI Shapefile format (.SHP)
- InfoAsset Manager Native TIN format (.IIM)
- 12D format (.12DA)
- XPTIN format (.XPTIN)
- LandXML (.XML)
When importing the Arc/Info, ESRI Shapefile, 12D, XPTIN or LandXML format files, they are first converted to the
InfoAsset Manager native format, and then imported into the current database.

- In the
Explorer Window, right-click the
Asset Group.
- From the popup menu, select one of the following options from the Import
Ground model TIN submenu:
- from
InfoWorks ground model file
- from Arc/Info TIN file
- from SHP ground model files
- from 12D files

- Select OK.
- If you selected the from LandXML files option, a
LandXML Surface dialog is displayed. In this dialog:

LandXML Units dialog. Specify the units and then select OK.
- Select which LandXML surfaces you want to include in the ground model from the ones displayed in the tree structure.
- Select OK.
- Click Open (in the Windows Open dialog) to import the file into the group.
Because ground model files can be quite large, the import process may take some time.
Exporting a TIN Ground Model
TIN ground models can be exported in the
InfoAsset Manager standard (.IIM) format. This file format cannot be edited, but the IIM file can be used for import into a different database or model.
To export a ground model
- In the
Explorer Window, right-click on the ground model and choose Export from the popup menu
- Choose a location and filename for the exported file and click Save.
InfoAsset Manager saves the ground model into the IIM file. Because ground models can be quite large, this operation may take some time.
