To create duplicates

Several methods to clone one or more parts

To begin creating duplicates, select the part or parts to duplicate first. The commands for duplication are located in the Edit panels of the main menu tabs, as well as in their respective panels of the Home and Arrange tab.

Copy & paste

This is the simplest way to clone a part.

Use Copy and Paste from the main menu or a part's context menu, or the default shortcuts Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

Important: Pasting creates duplicates based on the state of the copied items at the time of pasting, not the state at the time of copying. For example, pasting cannot bring a part back that was deleted or replaced by its repaired version between copying and pasting.

By creating duplicates in place

This function does no arranging at all. It places the clones in the same arrangement and orientation as the original part.

1. From the main menu choose Arrange > Duplicate > Same position.
2. Specify the count of duplicates including the original and click OK.

By filling buildroom with duplicates

This creates as many duplicates as necessary to fill the buildroom in rows, columns, and stacks using True Shape packing.

1. From the main menu choose Arrange > Duplicate > Fill by build volume.
2. Specify distances for padding between part clones and buildroom walls and click OK.

True Shape packing observes the shape of the part, typically achieving higher packing densities than other duplication or packing commands.

By defining count and arrangement

1. From the main menu choose Arrange > Duplicate > Fill by total count.
2. Specify either the quantity along X, Y, and Z, or the quantity overall.
   Tip: The dialog is interactive: As you change the Total count value, X, Y, and Z adjust, and vice versa.
3. For arrangement, choose from the dropdown Distance type whether to use gaps between bounding boxes, an interval along the respective axis, or gaps between mesh surfaces (not in Netfabb Standard).

Note: Gaps between surfaces can only be observed along one axis.

By specifying duplication count in True Shape packing

1. From the main menu choose Arrange > 3D packing True Shape or Arrange > 2D packing True Shape.
2. Change Global part duplicates from 1 to the desired count. Leave all other settings at their defaults and click OK to run packing and its duplication function.

Alternatively to changing Global part duplicates activate Edit per-part settings. After clicking OK, this causes an editable table dialog to open where the Copies column accepts the duplication count for each individual part. Click Pack to have the duplicates generated and the whole build room packed per settings.
