To Fix Missing or Not Found References

Update the path for a missing or not found reference.

Manually Update the Path of a Missing Reference

1. Click View tab Palettes panel External References Palette. Find
2. On the External References palette, make sure all references are displayed by switching the Missing toggle off.
3. In the File References pane, right-click the external reference file with a status of Not Found and choose Select New Path.
   Note: It is recommended that for a single selected broken reference, use the Select New Path option.
4. In the Select New Path dialog, browse to and select the new path for the missing reference file. Click Open.

   The path of the missing reference is updated and the file is loaded.

5. In the External References - Apply Path message box, click Yes to apply the same path to other missing references found in the new path or click No to not update the paths of other missing references.

View Only Missing References

1. Click View tab Palettes panel External References Palette. Find
2. On the External References palette, click the Missing toggle on.

   All missing references are displayed in the File References pane.

3. Click the missing toggle again to display all attached references.

Resolve the Paths of Missing References

When you open drawings from a project on Forma Data Management, you can take advantage of file history to resolve missing references.

1. Click View tab Palettes panel External References Palette. Find
2. On the External References palette, click the Missing toggle on.

   All missing references are displayed in the File References pane.

3. In the File References pane, click Resolve Selected to update the paths of the missing references based on the suggested paths.

   The paths of the missing references are updated and the files are loaded.

Manually Update the Paths of Multiple Missing References

1. Click View tab Palettes panel External References Palette. Find
2. On the External References palette, click the Missing toggle on.

   All missing references are displayed in the File References pane.

3. In the File References pane, select the missing references whose paths you want to update.
4. With the missing references selected, click Update Paths.
5. In the Select a New Folder dialog box, browser to ands select the new path for the missing references. Click Open.

   The paths of the missing references are updated and the files are loaded.
