Options |
Place as majority symbol (All except ISO 13715:2017) Sets the symbol as a collective indication representing all other edge symbols in the drawing. |
Define for all edges (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the edge symbol condition that applies to all edges of the part. This option is the default state of an edge symbol. |
Define for outside edges (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the edge symbol condition as a general indication that applies to all outside (external) edges. |
Define for inside edges (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the edge symbol condition as a general indication that applies to all inside (internal) edges. |
Place as majority symbol with condition of all edges with more than one exception (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the edge symbol condition as a general indication, with a collective indication in parentheses that represents all other edge symbols in the drawing when more than one exception exists |
Place as majority symbol with condition for one exception (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the edge symbol condition when one edge requires a different specification elsewhere in the drawing. An additional indication appears next to the general indication to represent the exception. |
Requirements Defines the position used to specify edge symbol requirements. |
Define direction (All except ISO 13715:2017) Turns on the direction of the symbol data or undefined size. When selected, the value entered in the upper box appears at the top of the edge symbol or the value in the lower box appears beside the edge symbol. However, if you enter different values in both boxes, they appear in the middle of the symbol. You can also set the undefined size at top or side of the symbol. |
Allow undefined size (All except ISO 13715:2017) Inserts an edge symbol without a specific size. The edge can be burred, passing, or undercut. Use only if you do not specify the exact edge number definition. |
Undefined size direction Specifies whether to insert the undefined size at the top or beside the edge symbol. It is enabled only when both Define direction and Allow undefined size options are selected. |
Burr or passing permitted Sets the edge type as burr or passing. |
Undercut required Sets the edge type as undercut. |
Position (ISO 13715:2017 only) |
Direction undefined Indicates that the direction of passing or undercut is not defined. When selected, the values appear in the middle of the edge symbol. |
Vertical direction defined Indicates a vertical direction of passing on an external edge. When selected, the values appear at the top of the edge symbol. |
Horizontal direction defined Indicates a horizontal direction of undercut on an internal edge. When selected, the values appear at the side of the edge symbol. |
Vertical and horizontal direction defined Indicates an asymmetrical direction, showing undercut on an external edge or passing on an internal edge. When selected, the values appear in both the vertical (top) and horizontal (side) positions of the edge symbol. |
No values Indicates that the edge symbol has no values. |
Show Standard Label Displays the current standard revision next to the symbol. |
Number of Edges (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines the quantity of edges represented by the edge symbol. |
Indication of Limited Areas (ISO 13715:2017 only) Defines whether the edge condition specification applies to only part of the edge length, using the between symbol together with the from and to indication values. |
Edge Symbol Parameters Defines the numeric parameters of the edge symbol. Select a recommended value from the drop-down list or enter a value in the text box. Note: The upper boundary and lower boundary restrictions are removed in the ISO 13715:2017(E) revision.
All Around Adds the all around indication to the symbol. This option is available only when the symbol is not a majority symbol. This option is visible only if the symbol is based on ISO 13715:2000 or ISO 13715:2017. The Revision box indicates the standard on which the symbol is based. |

Menu Options |
Load Loads the settings of the selected symbol to the Edge Symbol dialog box. This operation overwrites the current settings of the Edge Symbol dialog box. |
Update Overwrites the selected symbol in the library, with the current settings of the Edge Symbol dialog box. The preview updates to reflect the new settings. The name of the symbol and default status do not change. |
Delete Removes the selected symbol from the library. |
Rename Makes the symbol name editable. AutoCAD Mechanical toolset validates the name to ensure that the symbol names are unique. |
Set default Makes the selected symbol the default symbol of the library. A blue check mark appears next to the symbol to indicate that it is the default symbol. The next time you create an edge symbol, the default symbol loads automatically. |
Remove default Removes the default status of the selected symbol. This menu option is available only on the default symbol. When there is no default symbol selected, the settings default to the settings of the edge symbol symbol you created or edited most recently. |
Add Saves current settings to the symbol library as a new item in the library. A prompt enables you to name the new item. |
Import Imports the edge symbol symbols from the symbol library of another drawing. You can only import symbols of the same standard and revision as the edge symbol symbol you are editing. |

Arrowhead Specifies the leader arrowhead type. When the arrowhead is set to By Standard, the arrowhead is acquired from the current drafting standard. From then on, if you change the arrowhead selected for the current drafting standard (in the Standard Settings dialog box or Edge Settings dialog box), the arrowhead for this symbol is automatically updated. |
