Model Analytics for Cloud Models

Unlock near real-time model health and performance without opening Revit, so you can improve project outcomes and reduce team downtime.

Autodesk Model Analytics (AMA) is a cloud-connected add-in (extension) that provides insight into the health, performance, and usage of Revit cloud models.

Why should I use Model Analytics?

Model Analytics enables BIM managers, team leaders, and stakeholders to monitor model quality, identify issues, and make informed decisions based on data. It provides access to performance analyses and reports for the following:

• a specific Revit model
• an entire Forma project (containing multiple models)
• an organization-wide hub (available only to executives)

Use these reports to track down the culprits of slow performance, such as the following:

• Monitor file size, identifying when models show a significant jump in file size. You'll learn the date the jump happened, which model was upgraded, and its file size.
• Determine when models are being synced using multiple minor versions of Revit, which can cause software failures.
• Detect modeling practices that may impact performance, including the following:
  • overuse of in-place and nested families across models of the Forma project
  • improper import of images
  • CAD imports used to convert details into Revit
  • required plan regions created as independent views, instead of dependent views for simultaneous updates across the model

How does Model Analytics work?

The Model Analytics add-in connects Revit models to a cloud service that processes model data and generates analytics. Data collection happens automatically when users synchronize workshared models or save non-workshared models that are set up for Autodesk Model Analytics. The data is available in a web-based dashboard, allowing you to track trends over time and compare models across projects.

How do I set up Model Analytics?

Setting up Model Analytics for Revit involves the following tasks:

• An account administrator for an Autodesk Forma hub must activate Autodesk Model Analytics for the hub and for one or more projects in the hub. Learn how.
• Install the add-in on each computer where a Revit user works on the cloud models to be analyzed.

  To streamline setup, you can include the add-in as part of a Revit deployment.

To install the Model Analytics add-in

1. Make sure you have access to the following products and services.
   • Revit 2024 or later
   • One of the following:
     • Forma Design Collaboration
     • Cloud Models for Revit
     • Revit Cloud Worksharing
     • Forma Data Management (but not Build Essentials)

   To check your access, go to manage.autodesk.com, sign into your Autodesk account, and go to the Products and Services tab. This tab lists the software that you have access to. Confirm that you have access to the required software.

2. Download the add-in.
   1. On manage.autodesk.com, on the Products and Services tab, locate the Revit card, and click View Details.
   2. On the Revit details page, click the tab for the latest version of Revit that you're using.
   3. Under Available Downloads, click Extensions.
   4. In the list, for Model Analytics Revit Extension, click Download.
3. Install the add-in.
   Note: Exit Revit before installing the add-in.

   Click or double-click the downloaded file to start the installation process, and follow the prompts.

Note that Model Analytics does not appear on the Add-ins tab of the Revit ribbon. Instead, you access it from Autodesk Forma.
