About the Model Location

The model location specifies a real-world location for the purposes of simple Revit-based analyses, such as shadow studies.

Specify the model's location using the Location tool on the Manage tab. You can select the nearest city from a list or use an Internet mapping service to specify a street address or the latitude and longitude.

Revit uses the location as follows:

The model location does not affect the following:

Note: Defining a location using the Internet Mapping Service or the Default City List does not specify a geographic location (geolocation) for the model. To specify a geolocation, acquire coordinates from a DWG file or another Revit model, or specify a draft geolocation as part of a Forma workflow. When a geolocation is defined for the model, the Location dialog displays the information.
