3D Path Rebar Shape Distribution

Model transverse rebar along complex, double-curved concrete elements using a new 3D path-based distribution. Maintain consistent rebar geometry while adapting automatically to host changes.

3D Path Rebar Shape Distribution, is a free-form rebar workflow for modeling transverse reinforcement along complex, double-curved concrete geometry, like those of bridges and tunnels.

Distribute identical rebar shapes along a 3D path defined by one or more host edges, while controlling bar geometry and exact dimensions in section. Placement is a simple two-step process: place the main bar in section or plan, then select the host edge to define the distribution path. Each placed bar creates its own rebar set with consistent layout and properties.

Bars remain aligned to the distribution path and automatically adapt to host geometry changes, while preserving the defined bar shape and dimensions. You can edit the main bar, adjust the set range using path handles, and control start and end offsets through constraints, properties, or schedules. The feature also supports custom spacing formulas, propagate rebar, and splitting 3D path sets, enabling efficient reuse across similar hosts.

This workflow improves accuracy, consistency, and productivity when detailing reinforcement for curved slabs, walls, and other complex concrete elements.
