Windows Installer Error 1642

Issue

The update or upgrade cannot be installed, because the program to be upgraded does not exist on your computer or the version of the program to be updated is the wrong version .

Solution

Try installing the update or application again. If the error message persists, delete all downloaded files, and try installing the application again. To find the folder containing the downloaded files:
  1. Click your Autodesk ID on the top right of the application window.
    Note: If you are not signed in, click the drop-down next to the Sign In button.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. If the Share Storage for Content Downloads option is selected, note down the folder name specified in the Location box. If not, note down the folder name specified in the Local Location box. This is the folder containing the downloaded installation files.
