Download and install products

Choose an installation method to download and install your product.

Product installation varies according to whether you perform a simple download from Autodesk Account, use Custom Install to pre-configure an installation, or download and install from the Autodesk desktop app (Windows only).

Simple download from Autodesk Account

From a simple download, products install with the base configuration.

  1. Sign in to Autodesk Account.
  2. Select a product for installation.
  3. Choose an install method (Install Now, Download Now, or Browser Download).
  4. If you chose the Download Now method, launch the EXE file (Windows), mount the DMG file (macOS), or extract the TAR file (Linux) associated with your product and version. For example, for a Windows product, launch setup.exe.
  5. Read and accept the license agreement.
  6. Click Install.
  7. If you see a Product Language drop-down menu, choose the language that the user speaks. (If you don't see a Product Language menu, you can download and install a language pack after the product is installed.)
  8. In addition to the default installation path, some products offer the option to specify a new path.
  9. When installation is complete, close the installer or start the product.

Custom stand-alone install from Autodesk Account

Use the Custom Install feature of Account to pre-configure components for your stand-alone product installation before you download. Custom Install creates a customized installer that starts automatically.

  1. Sign in to Autodesk Account.
  2. Select Custom Install from the Account navigation pane.
  3. Click Create New (in the top right corner).
  4. Select the license type to use in the installer for all products.
  5. In the Add A Product section, select one or more products to add to the custom package.
  6. As you select products, you can customize them in the right panel. You can select the version to include in the package; installers needed for that version are included in the package. You can also add optional applications or specify a storage location for content, including templates, materials, and drawings.
  7. After selecting the products you want in the custom package, click Next to go to the Enter Package Details section. (You can go back to the previous step by clicking the section header.)
  8. In the Enter Package Details dialog, enter a package name, or accept the "Autodesk Custom Installer" default. This name is used in filenames to identify the deployment after it's created on your network share. Use a valid Windows filename that's unique within all your saved packages.
  9. Tip: Use a name that helps you identify the package when viewing a list. Represent who the package is intended for and which products are included.
  10. Optionally, enter a package description.
  11. Select Install, which creates a package of products to install on your own device. (The Deploy option creates a package of products to install on multiple devices. For more information about deployments, click Create deployments from Autodesk Account in Related Tasks at the bottom of this page.)
  12. Expand Advanced Options to make other package changes, such as changing the default installation path.
  13. Click the checkbox to agree to the Terms of Use.
  14. Click Download or Save:
    • Download puts the deployment creation executable in your Downloads folder (or other folder specified in your browser settings). This file is about 10 MB and includes the deployment configuration and the executable that creates the deployment. The package is saved in your library automatically, and the page returned to the list of packages.
    • Save allows you to save the package without downloading it.
  15. Note: At this point, product images aren't downloaded.
  16. Run the downloaded installer package.
  17. When installation finishes, review the list of installed products and close the installer or start the product.

Download and install with the Autodesk desktop app

  1. Select your product for installation.
  2. Read and accept the license agreement.
  3. Click Install.
  4. If you see a Product Language drop-down menu, choose the language that the user speaks. (If you don't see a Product Language menu, you can download and install a language pack after the product is installed.)
  5. In addition to the default installation path, some products offer the option to specify a new path.
  6. When installation is complete, close the installer or start the product.
