If you use the Browser Download option to download an Autodesk product, you download a compressed package. When you open the package, the Autodesk Self-Extract utility extracts the compressed files to a local disk.
Although the Download Now or Install Now option is recommended (because of speed, reliability, and efficiency), Autodesk continues to support traditional browser-based download methods. Keep in mind that browser-based downloads may require multiple actions to retrieve each packaged file.
To extract your files after all have finished downloading, double-click the .exe file saved to your target directory. If your Autodesk product is larger than 4 GB and packaged in multiple .exe files, click any part to start the extraction. All parts are extracted in a single operation. Self-Extract asks you to confirm the destination folder for the extracted files and allows you to change it.
After each product is extracted, you can install immediately. Alternatively, you can install or deploy later by clicking the Setup.exe file in the destination folder.
Autodesk recommends that you leave files in place after you extract them. They are useful if you need to reinstall or repair a product. However, it is safe to delete the downloaded .exe file or the extracted installation files.
