Troubleshoot Non-Autodesk Software
The following topics may help you to understand limitations, known behaviors, and help you troubleshoot interoperability problems while using Non-Autodesk CAD related software with Desktop Connector.
Topics in this Section
ArcGIS
- ArcGIS has a setting for "Create a backup when the project has unsaved changes" which controls whether a backup file is generated. When this setting is turned on, ArcGIS deletes the previous backup that exists in the "/.backups/" folder and saves a new backup with the identical name as the original file. When these files are stored in Desktop Connector this behavior will cause the Delete Notification prompt in the Desktop Connector Home Screen.
- To avoid the Desktop Connector Delete Notification, Uncheck the setting in ArcGIS to "Create a backup when the project has unsaved changes" to turn off backup file creation.
MicroStation
- Starting with Desktop Connector release 16.11 (beta), Microstation files (.dgn) will automatically lock when opened to help prevent users from overwriting each others changes. MicroStation behaviors prevent Desktop Connector from automatically unlocking the file when the file is closed. The file will automatically unlock when MicroStation itself is closed.
- MicroStation modifies files in many workflows (ex. File Open) so files are versioned up quite often. This is a current known behavior.
