Once you have created a naming standard, you can select which folders the naming standard applies to.
You can apply one naming standard to a folder as long as the folder doesn't contain files. To apply the naming standard to a folder that contains files, move the files out of the folder first. After the naming standard is applied, move the files back into the folder. When files are added to a folder with a naming standard applied, this will trigger the file validator which checks that the file names conform to the naming standard and any attributes set as required.
Project administrators can access the naming standard settings and update the applied folders. Members with Manage permission can use the folder tree to apply the naming standard to specific folders.
To apply a naming standard empty folders:
Click the Files tool.
Click Settings.
Hover Compliance.
Click Naming Standards.
You have the following options
Select each empty folder that you want the naming standard applied to. If the naming standard is already applied to folders, they will be selected. You can't select folders with other naming standards applied and the names of those naming standards are displayed next to the relevant folders.
Click Save.
You can also apply a naming standard to a specific folder when you are working in the main folders area.
Click the Files tool.
Click the More menu of the relevant folder in the Folders tab left pane.
Hover over More.
Click Apply naming standard.
You can apply the naming standard to:
Choose a folder option.
Click the naming standard drop-down and select the relevant naming standard.
Click Apply.
You can remove empty and non-empty folders that have a naming standard enforced applied:
Click the More menu of the relevant folder in the Folders tab left pane.
Hover over More.
