File Naming Standards

A naming standard governs the format of file names in folders which have a naming standard applied. File naming standards helps you stay organized and makes it easier to identify your files. By consistently organizing your files, you will be able to quickly find what you need, and help other members more easily navigate your work.

Naming standards are created in Autodesk Docs. Each naming standard consists of:

A naming standard is built on the foundation of the ISO 19650 series of standards that define information management principles and requirements in the context of the digital transformation of the build environment.

In Autodesk Docs, a project administrator can choose to apply different naming standards to different folders in the Files tool. This can be useful if some collaborators use a different naming standard, or teams want to apply certain naming standsards for specific file types.

The naming standards will be applied to the same folders in the Docs, Build, and Takeoff Files tools.
