Revision Codes

Revision codes follow a specified form as outlined in ISO 19650. The code consists of a:

• Letter prefix
• Primary revision to be shared
• Primary work in progress (WIP) revision

Putting all three parts together, the revision code takes the form P##.## or C##.## where P and C represent the available prefix letters defined as:

• P = preliminary, noncontractual information
• C = contractual information

The primary revision to be shared is a numeric integer. Project administrators can control the number of digits used to represent the integer, up to a limit of six. For example, if the integer is represented with two digits, it would look like 01, 02, and so on. The primary WIP revision is also a numeric integer with an adjustable number of digits up to six. When information is shared, the WIP revision is dropped.

Example

Consider an example with noncontractual information using a digit count of two. If there are 5 WIP revisions before being shared, the revision codes would look as follows:

P01.01 > P01.02 > ... > P01.05 > P01
