UserCoordinateSystemGeometry Object Preview

Description

A transient object used to define and query the geometric input for a user coordinate system and the resulting coordinate system it defines. New UserCoordinateSystemGeometry objects are created using the static create method and are then used as input to the UserCoordinateSystems.createInput method.

Methods

Name Description
classType

Static function that all classes support that returns the type of the class as a string. The returned string matches the string returned by the objectType property. For example if you have a reference to an object and you want to check if it's a SketchLine you can use myObject.objectType == fusion.SketchLine.classType().

createByCurve

Creates a new transient UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object using a BRepEdge or SketchCurve as input. A UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object can be used to create a User Coordinate System.

createByNonPlanarFace

Creates a new transient UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object based on a non-planar analytical BRepFace object. This is limited to cylinders, cones, spheres, and tori. A UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object can be used to create a User Coordinate System.

createByPlanarFace

Creates a new transient UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object based on a Profile and a curve defining that profile. A UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object can be used to create a User Coordinate System.

createByPoint

Creates a new transient UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object using a ConstructionPoint, SketchPoint or BRepVertex as input. A UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object can be used to create a User Coordinate System.

createByProfile

Creates a new transient UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object based on a Profile and a curve defining that profile. A UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object can be used to create a User Coordinate System.

Properties

Name Description
entity The entity that's defining this user coordinate system geometry. This can be various types of geometry depending on how this coordinate system geometry is defined. The geometryType property indicates the type of geometry.
geometryType Returns the type of geometry this UserCoordinateSystemGeometry object represents.
isValid Indicates if this object is still valid, i.e. hasn't been deleted or some other action done to invalidate the reference.
keyPointType Returns the keypoint type this UserCoordinateSystemGeometry is using.
objectType This property is supported by all objects in the API and returns a string that contains the full name (namespace::objecttype) describing the type of the object.

It's often useful to use this in combination with the classType method to see if an object is a certain type. For example: if obj.objectType == adsk.core.Point3D.classType():
origin Returns the origin point that's been calculated for this user coordinate system geometry.
