Learn how to use offline mode in Fusion when you do not have access to a reliable internet connection or lose your internet connection.
Offline mode is indicated by a red dot on the Job Status in the upper-right corner. The Online/Offline status displays within the Job Status flyout.
Fusion will automatically go into offline mode in the following cases:
When you open a design, the design file is automatically downloaded and cached locally. If Fusion goes offline, you can continue to work on any cached designs.
You can also insert any cached components and derived design features while offline using the Insert Component and Insert Derive tools in the Insert panel.
When offline, you cannot perform certain file operations such as upload. Also, you cannot create new folders, or create milestones. You can work offline up to a period of two weeks if needed. After this, Fusion will need to sync back online so that you can stay on the latest version.
Fusion will automatically go back online in the following cases:
Any documents you change and save in offline mode automatically update in the Data Panel.
When you save in offline mode, Fusion operates on a "last-save-wins" basis. One version of each design is captured and the most recent save is the only version synced to the dashboard.
When you work and save in offline mode, a queue is created. It is not subject to the cache time limit in the preferences.
When we detect service latency, which may slow some areas of Fusion that rely on an internet connection (cloud rendering, cloud simulation, etc), the Job Status displays a yellow dot. You will still be online, and can still perform all file and design operations as while online except for caching of files.
If you lose your internet connection or accidentally close Fusion while a file is uploading, your data is not lost. When you connect to the internet again, the process continues and your files upload to the cloud.
The documents changed in offline mode are automatically updated and uploaded to the Data Panel once you are back in online mode.
