Activate a component in an assembly
Learn how to activate an internal component in a Hybrid Design in Fusion.
Note:
Assembly designs can't contain internal components by default. Instead of activate, use Edit In Place to edit the external component in the context of the assembly.
- In the Browser, locate the internal component you want to activate.
- Click the Activate Component radio button.
The component activates. The timeline updates to display only features that are associated with the active component. Parent and sibling components become translucent to make it easier to work with the active component.
Tips
- You can activate any individual child component nested within a subassembly, or activate the parent component of the subassembly.
- If you activate the Default Component in the assembly, the entire history of the assembly displays in the timeline.
- When you activate a component, new sketches, bodies, construction geometry, and other elements that only affect the active component are created and contained within the active component.
- Some elements like joints, contact sets, and motion studies are always stored in the Default Component, because they affect the entire assembly.
