Generate a Corner toolpath

  1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, click Milling > 3D > Corner Corner icon.

    The Corner dialog opens.

  2. On the Tool tab, click Select to pick a tool. If you have not created a tool to use, In the left panel of the dialog, from the Fusion Library, pick a tool from the Sample Tools library.

    Tip: Ball type end mills are best suited for Corner toolpaths.

  3. On the Geometry tab, you may contain the toolpath area with a Machining Boundary and then select the face, edge, or sketch that represents the area to be machined. If no selection is made, the entire model will be evaluated for machining within the defined Stock box.

  4. In the Rest Machining group, select a Reference Tool. The reference tool is used to determine which areas should be machined and must be larger than the tool you are using for cutting.

  5. On the Heights tab, adjust the vertical area to machine in Z, by setting the Top Height and Bottom Height of the cutting area.

  6. On the Passes tab, in the Steep Passes group, select an option from the Type drop-down list then specify a Stepover value.

  7. In the Shallow Passes group, select an option from the Type drop-down list then specify a Stepover value.

  8. Optional steps:

    • To ignore material that is small and not practical to machine, in the Geometry tab, adjust the Detection Limit value.

    • To engage the toolpath to the full extents of the boundary or surface edge, select the Contact Point Boundary checkbox.

    • To control the Stepover and Stepdown value automatically based on the desired surface finish, enter a Cusp Height value.

    • To control the intersection of these two cutting styles, in the Passes tab, adjust the Threshold Angle.

    • To control the order of the cuts, select an option from the Priority drop-down list.

  9. Click OK.

The toolpath is generated.
