Limit the tilting angle

Note: The manufacturer of your machine tool may provide you with the mininmum and maximum tilting range of your machine's tool axis, which you can use within Tool Axis Limits settings when programming a toolpath.

Apply tool axis limits

  1. In the strategy dialog, in the Multi-Axis tab Multi-Axis tab, from the Machining Type options, select 5-axis.
  2. Select the Tool Axis Limits checkbox.
  3. Enter a Minimum Tilt and Maximum Tilt angle to limit the tilting angle of the tool axis.
  4. For areas beyond the tilt limit you can:
    • Remove the portion of the toolpath that tilts the tool axis beyond the Minimum and Maximum Tilt limits. Select Trim Toolpath from the Areas Beyond Limit list.
    • Continue machining at the tilt angle for areas that would otherwise move the tool axis beyond the limit. Select Machine At Tilt Limit from the Areas Beyond Limit list.
