The Multi-Axis Finishing strategy lets you finish areas such as curved walls or floors of pockets. You can use circle segment tools, sometimes referred to as barrel tools, which have curved cutting geometry to achieve larger stepovers and faster cycle times.

When machining only walls, you must also specify floor surfaces as the strategy uses the normal of the floor surface to determine the direction in which the tool should enter the cutting area.

The strategy automatically uses a suitable contact point on the tool, but you can manually specify a contact point with a minimum and maximum range. The larger the range, the more freedom the tool has to find a suitable contact point, giving smoother rotary motion and the ability to reach smaller corners.
