You can import Fusion-supported tools from P21 files and Generic Tool Catalog (GTC) packages (.zip). A P21 file contains properties that define a tool’s geometry, which map to Fusion’s tool parameters during the import process. GTC packages include the tool’s properties (P21 file) and a model of the tool (STEP file). These files and packages are often available for download from tool vendors or manufacturers.
Important notes:
Import errors for unsupported tools: Importing an unsupported tool results in an error. Unsupported tools include, for example, double-insert holders, angled groovers, and tools for PrimeTurning. For a list of supported tools, see Supported tools reference.
Errors or warnings from vendors or manufacturers: The tooling data in the files and packages provided by a tool vendor or manufacturer may be incorrect or incomplete. This results in an error or warning during import. If there is an issue, the error or warning provides more details.
Tool model in GTC packages: When importing a tool from a GTC package, Fusion does not currently use the model of the tool (STEP file). The tool's geometry is defined through the package's P21 file.
If there are any import issues with an imported tool, Fusion indicates these with an error icon or a warning icon
next to the tool. Edit the tool for more details about the import issues.
Import errors occur when a tool parameter has a missing value. This can be because the file did not contain one initially or the value in the file is not supported by Fusion. You cannot use the tool until you provide a valid value.
Import warnings occur when Fusion assigns a default value to a tool parameter. This is because the file did not contain a value initially or the value in the file is not supported by Fusion. Verify the default value for the parameter before using the tool.
In the dialog that opens when editing a tool, any tabs containing parameters with import errors are highlighted red.
