Export and import tool libraries and import tools

The Import Libraries, Import Tools, and Export Library options in the Tool Library enable you to:

Import a tool library

  1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, on any tab, click Manage > Tool Library tool library icon.

  2. In the Tool Library, in the left panel, right-click the Cloud or Local library, then select Import Libraries.

  3. In the Open File(s) dialog, locate and select the tool library file, then click Open.

    The tool library is added and uses the same name as the imported file.

Import a tool

  1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, on any tab, click Manage > Tool Library tool library icon.

  2. In the Tool Library, in the left panel, right-click a library within the Cloud or Local library, then choose Import Tools.

  3. In the Open File(s) dialog, find and select the tool file that you want to import, then click Open.

Export a tool library

Note: Expressions defined in the Tool Library are not exported to a spreadsheet.
  1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, on any tab, click Manage > Tool Library tool library icon.

  2. In the Tool Library, in the left panel, right-click a library, then select Export library export library icon.

  3. In the Save File dialog, select the desired location and enter a File Name for the tool library file.

  4. From the Save as type list, select the export format for the file:

    • Fusion Tool Library - Zipped (*.tools) is the default format. It is the same as the Fusion .json file, but in a zipped format. If you need to back up your tool library, select this format.
    • Fusion Tool Library (*.json) is a Java Script format. This is the default format for Fusion.
    • HSM Tool Library (*.hsmlib) is a format interchangeable with Inventor HSM and HSMWorks.
    • Comma-Separated Values (*.csv) is a format that you can use in a spreadsheet, like Excel, to modify the tool parameters. Next, you can import the file or copy-paste the content to the Tool Library.
  5. Click Save.

A notification confirming the export appears in the bottom-right corner.
