The Turning Part strategy, also called a cut-off strategy, cuts off a part from the rest of the stock, typically, from a long bar. You can use the remaining stock to machine more parts. Turning Part is usually the final operation in a setup, after turning the part to the required shape and size.
After cutting off, the part falls off into a bin or parts catcher. The parts catcher is a device that catches, collects, and stores parts without interrupting the machining process.
You don't need to select geometry. The strategy creates the toolpath at the back of the model that you specified in the Setup.
To prevent sharp edges that could cause injury or part damage, the toolpath makes fillets or chamfers on the back edge of the part. Select the appropriate option from the Edge Break Type drop-down on the Geometry tab.
To help improve machining accuracy and surface finish, select the Use Pecking checkbox. While pecking, the tool makes several shallower cuts in the part. It is useful when machining deep grooves or hard materials.
For better surface finish on the cut-off side of the part, select Finishing Passes checkbox.
