Create a leader, hole and thread note, or bend note

Learn how to use the Note command in the Drawing workspace to automatically create a leader, hole note, thread note, or bend note based on the type of edge you select on the current sheet.

  1. On the toolbar, select Text > Note note icon.

The Note dialog displays and Type is set to Automatic.

  2. On the sheet, click the edge of the feature you want to annotate:

    • Leader Note: Creates a multiline text object with a leader that associates the note to a component or feature.

    • Hole and Thread Note: Creates a hole or thread note associated with a hole or thread feature. Also creates a thread note for a thread that was added to extruded cuts (internal thread) or extruded circular profiles (external thread).

    • Bend Note: Creates a bend note associated with a sheet metal flat pattern bend.

The Type setting changes based on the type of object you clicked.

  3. For the Leader Note type, click to place the leader line, then:

    • Enter the text to display.
    • In the Text dialog, format the text.
    • Click anywhere on the sheet or click Close to complete the leader note.
  4. For the Hole and Thread Note type, click to place the leader line.

    The text automatically populates.

    • Click additional hole or thread features to place additional notes.
  5. For the Bend Note type, click additional bend centerlines to place additional notes.

  6. Click OK.

The leader notes, hole notes, thread notes, or bend notes display on the current sheet.
