Create a drawing sketch

Learn how to create, edit, move, and delete a drawing sketch on a sheet in the Drawing workspace.

Create a new drawing sketch

After you create or open a drawing:

1. On the toolbar, select Create > Create Sketch .

   You will enter the Sketch contextual environment and the Sketch dialog displays.

2. In the Sketch dialog, adjust the properties and display settings.

3. On the toolbar:

   • Click any command in the Geometry panel to create geometry
   • Click any command in the Modify panel to modify geometry
   • Click the Text command to create text
   • Click the Measure command to measure geometry

4. On the toolbar, click Finish Sketch.

You exit the Sketch contextual environment and the sketch displays on the sheet.

Edit a drawing sketch

1. In the canvas or browser, right-click the sketch.

2. Select Edit Sketch.

   You will enter the Sketch contextual environment and the Sketch dialog displays.

3. Use the commands in the toolbar and the Sketch dialog to create, modify, or delete geometry.

4. On the toolbar, click Finish Sketch.

Move a drawing sketch

1. In the canvas or the browser, click to select the sketch.
2. Click and drag the grip in the center of the sketch to move it.
3. Release the mouse button to place the sketch.

Delete a drawing sketch

1. In the canvas or the browser, right-click the sketch.
2. Select Delete.
