Create a drawing sketch

Create, edit, move, and delete drawing sketches on a sheet in the Drawing workspace. Use Create Sketch to add a View Sketch that is associative to a drawing view, or an independent sketch on the sheet.

Create a drawing sketch

1. Create or open a drawing.

2. On the Drawing workspace toolbar, select Create > Create Sketch .

3. Click a drawing view to create a View Sketch, or click outside a drawing view to create an independent sketch.

   You enter the Sketch contextual environment and the Sketch dialog displays.

4. In the Sketch dialog, adjust the properties and display settings.

5. On the Drawing workspace toolbar:

   • Click any tool in the Geometry panel to create geometry
   • Click any tool in the Constraints panel to constrain geometry. You can constrain sketch geometry to other sketch geometry or to geometry in the associated drawing view.
   • Click any tool in the Modify panel to modify geometry
   • Click the Text tool to create text
   • Click the Measure tool to measure geometry

6. On the Drawing workspace toolbar, click Finish Sketch.

You exit the Sketch contextual environment and the sketch displays on the sheet.

Edit a drawing sketch

1. On the canvas or the Browser, right-click the sketch.

2. Select Edit Sketch.

   You enter the Sketch contextual environment and the Sketch dialog displays.

3. Use the tools in the Drawing workspace toolbar and the Sketch dialog to create, modify, or delete geometry.

4. On the Drawing workspace toolbar, click Finish Sketch.

Move a drawing sketch

1. On the canvas or the Browser, click to select the sketch.
2. Click and drag the grip in the center of the sketch to move it.
3. Release the mouse button to place the sketch.

Delete a drawing sketch

1. On the canvas or the Browser, right-click the sketch.
2. Select Delete.
