Create a new attribute

You can create attributes meant to represent properties of a library, component, or component variant in Fusion Electronics. When you create an attribute, anytime you change the value, the value will change across the entire specified scope.

Prerequisites

  1. Open the Attributes dialog.
  2. Make sure you are viewing attributes for the desired component variant.

Steps

  1. In the Attributes dialog, click New Attribute in the lower-left corner to bring up the New Attribute Dialog.

  2. Enter a name for the new attribute. Click the arrow to select from internal suggestions or enter any custom name.

  3. Select an attribute type:

    • Variable: Attribute values can be overwritten in the schematic
    • Constant: Attribute values cannot be overwritten
  4. Select the attribute value scope:

    • Library: Adds the attribute to all components and variants in the library.
    • The Component: Adds the attribute to all variants of the current component.
    • This Variant: Adds the attribute to the current variant with a default value for all attribute sets.
    • Attribute Set: Adds the attribute to the current variant with a value only for the selected attribute set.
  5. (Optional) Enter a default value for the attribute across its entire scope. Leave this field blank if you want the attribute values to be empty by default.

  6. Click OK to create the attribute.

Next Steps

• Edit attribute values or override values at different scopes.
