Here we explore how to create a 3D package and its related footprint in a new custom library. Normally in this process, you work with the details provided in a specification sheet for the part, obtained from the manufacturer or distributor.
On the File menu, click New Electronics Library.
Click File > Save, and in the Save dialog, provide a name for your library; either save it in an existing project, or at the far right end of the Location field, click the down arrow, click New Project, provide a name for it, and then Click Save.
In the top left of the window, click New Package . In the ribbon, the Package panel is active.
If you wanted to create a package from scratch, you could click Solid and use Fusion Drawing tools to prepare a 3D image. However, in the Generate a 3D package topic, we show a complete example of the more common process of working with the 3D Package Generator.
