Design rules priorities
Fusion evaluates design rules in each category according to their priorities. Starting with the highest priority or lowest value rule during interactive workflows like manual routing, which require clearance checks, copper width values, or via drill sizes.
Set your rule priorities so that the stricter rules come first, followed by less strict scopes.
All Scope -
- Try to avoid using the "All" scope, which matches any object allowed for the rule. For instance, for copper clearance, it matches any existing copper object.
- If you need a rule with the "All" scope, give it the lowest priority and the lowest minimum and preferred values.
- For Live/Manual DRC, evaluate all clearance rules. Give higher priority rules the largest values. This way, only the stricter rules generate violations when they match any subset of objects.
- For unary rules like Copper Width and Drill Size, checks stop after the first matching rule. Treat the priority ordering of these rules the same way as for binary rules.
- Keep General Rules values smaller than the smallest custom rule value. Or disable the General Rules using the check box if available. This way, only custom rules are used.
