When you want to create the base 2D profiles of preserve or obstacle geometry without leaving the Generative Design workspace, use the Construct tools in the Edit Model contextual environment.
The Construct tools in the Edit Model contextual environment are the same tools available in the Design workspace.

Offset Plane | Create a plane at a specified distance from an existing face or plane. |
Plane at Angle | Create a plane at an angle relative to an edge or axis. |
Tangent Plane | Create a plane tangent to a cylindrical face. |
Midplane | Create a plane an equal distance from two existing faces, planes, or a face and a plane. |
Plane Through Two Edges | Create a plane that passes through two edges or axes that are in the same mathematical plane. This tool is helpful when creating a connecting body between existing bodies. |
Plane Through Three Points | Create a plane through three points or vertices. |
Plane Tangent to Face at Point | Create a plane tangent to a cylindrical face, at a point on the face. Having a point at the location makes the location easy to select. |
Plane Along Path | Create a plane normal to a sketch path or edge. |
Axis Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus | Create an axis through the center of a cylinder, cone, or torus shape. Only one axis can be created at a time. |
Axis Perpendicular at Point | Create an axis through a plane or surface, at a selected point. The workplane is not a valid entry for the face, but non-planar surfaces can be selected. |
Axis Through Two Planes | Create an axis where two planes intersect. Global planes or construction planes can be used as selections. |
Axis Through Two Points | Create an axis through two points or vertices. |
Axis Through Edge | Create an axis by selecting a straight edge. |
Axis Perpendicular to Face at Point | Create an axis, perpendicular to a surface or plane, at a selected point. |
Point at Vertex | Create a point at a specific vertex. |
Point Through Two Edges | Create a point where two edges, or the extension of the two edges, intersect. |
Point Through Three Planes | Create a point where three planes, or the extension of three planes, intersect. |
Point at Center of Circle/Sphere/Torus | Create a point at the center of a circular face, a sphere, or a torus. |
Point at Edge and Plane | Create a point where a plane and an edge, or the extension of the two, intersect. Edges and planes do not need to be on the same body to make points with this tool. |
