Design criteria are objectives and manufacturing constraints that are required to define the design goals for the solver. Based on these goals, the solver generates manufacturing-ready designs that meet your requirements. You can specify goals such as reducing weight and optimizing performance.
To specify these goals, use the tools in the Design Criteria panel of the Generative Design toolbar.
Tool | Description |
---|---|
Objectives | Specify the design objectives and limits that the outcomes should satisfy. A generative design study can work towards minimizing the model’s mass or maximizing its stiffness. Additionally, you can specify limits such as safety factor, mass target, and displacement. |
Manufacturing | Specify the manufacturing constraints to adjust the outcomes so that you can easily manufacture them using a specific method. You can specify constraints for the following manufacturing methods: additive, milling, 2-axis cutting, and casting. If you don't want to use any constrains, then select the Unrestricted method to generate outcomes that are not constrained by any manufacturing processes. Note: You need to select at least one manufacturing method. If you select more methods, you can easily compare outcomes generated for each of them. |
