When you want to modify the preserve or obstacle geometry, without leaving the Generative Design workspace, use the Modify tools in the Edit Model contextual environment.
Use the tools on the Edit Model Solid tab > Modify panel to modify solid shapes. These are the same tools available in the Design workspace > Solid tab > Modify panel. Select profiles or planar faces on solid bodies when using these tools.
Use the tools on the Edit Model Surface tab > Modify panel to modify surfaces. These are the same tools available in the Design workspace > Surface tab > Modify panel. Surfaces are an outer skin that represents the shape of the model. They have no thickness. Surfaces are sometimes used to patch up openings in a model. Select 2D sketches when using these tools.
The model simplification tools - Remove Features, Remove Faces, and Replace with Primitives are also found in the Simulation workspace > Simplify contextual environment. Select faces, features, bodies, and component, with these tools.
Use the links in the table to find out more about the tools.
Tool | Purpose |
---|---|
Remove Features | Simplify complex geometry by removing small, unnecessary features. |
Remove Faces | Automatically remove relevant neighboring faces, when you choose a face to remove. This action ensures that the remaining geometry can be healed properly. |
Replace with Primitives | Replace complex geometry with a representative primitive, such as a box, a cylinder, or a sphere. |
Press Pull | Change the size of faces, bodies, fillets, chamfers, holes, and other geometry. |
Fillet | Round sharp edges and corners. |
Chamfer | Bevel edges. |
Shell | Create a hollow cavity with walls of a specified thickness from a solid feature, by removing unnecessary material. |
Draft | Add an angle to a planar face. |
Scale | Increase or decrease the size of selected features, such as imported bodies that have no design history, or sketches, without having to alter dimensions. |
Combine | Change the geometry of a 'target' body, to reflect the shape of selected 'tool' bodies using one of three Boolean operations, Join, Cut, or Intersect. |
Replace Face | Replace an existing face with a new face that completely intersects the original body. |
Split | Divide faces or bodies, to add draft, delete an area, or create features.
|
Move/Copy | Move or copy a face, body, sketch curve, component, or sketch geometry. |
Align | Move a body or component, relative to another object, without creating a relationship between the objects. |
