Apply appearances to components, bodies, and faces in a design
Use the Appearance tool to apply color and texture overrides to components, bodies, and faces in a Fusion design.
On the toolbar, click:
Design > Modify > Appearance
Render > Setup > Appearance
Animation > Transform > Appearance
The Appearance dialog displays.
In the dialog, in the Apply To section, select the type of objects you want to apply an appearance to:
- Bodies/Components
- Faces
- All Storyboards
- Current Storyboard
Locate the appearance you want to use in one of the following sections:
- In This Design: Appearances that are already in use in your design.
- Library: Appearances that are not yet in use in your design, but that appear in the Fusion Appearances library, My Appearances library, or your Favorites library.
Click and drag the appearance and drop it on top of components, bodies, or faces in the Browser or canvas.
The new appearance displays on the components, bodies, or faces in the canvas.
Repeat steps 2-5 to apply different appearances to other components, bodies, and faces.
Click Close.

Tips
- Open the Preferences dialog > Material section to Apply a different appearance to objects by default in new designs.
- Drag and drop an appearance onto the default component in the Browser to change the default appearance applied to new objects in the design.
- Preselect components, bodies, and faces in the Browser to apply a new appearance to them all at once.
- Drag and drop an appearance onto a specific component, body, or face to apply an override to that object.
- Drag and drop an appearance onto a parent component, and you can choose to keep any overrides applied to components, bodies, and faces within it, or remove the overrides so that the objects inherit the appearance from their parent component.
- Check Show downloadable materials to show materials available for download.
