Create a primitive box

Learn how to use the Box command to create a solid body in the shape of a primitive box in Fusion.

  1. On the toolbar, click Solid > Create > Box box icon.

  2. In the canvas, select a plane or planar face.

  3. Place the first corner of the box.

  4. Place the opposite corner, or specify exact Length and Width values, to define the base of the box.

    The Box dialog displays.

  5. Drag the Length, Width, and Height manipulator handles in the canvas to adjust the size of the box, or specify exact values.

  6. Select an Operation, and adjust its associated settings:

    • join icon Join: Combines the new body with an existing body.
    • cut icon Cut: Removes an area from an existing body.
      • Objects to Cut: Check or uncheck objects to cut.
    • intersect icon Intersect: Creates a body at the intersection of an existing body and the new body.
      • Objects to Cut: Check or uncheck objects to cut.
    • new body icon New Body: Creates a new body in the active component.
    • new component icon New Component: Creates a new body in a new component.
  7. Click OK.

The solid body displays in the canvas, in the shape of a primitive box.
