Create an axis along an edge

Learn how to use the Axis Through Edge tool to create a construction axis along a linear edge or sketch curve in Fusion.

1. On the toolbar, select Construct > Axis Through Edge .

   The Construction Geometry dialog displays, Type is set to Axis and Method is set to Through Edge.

2. Select an Extent Type option to establish the end point of the axis.

3. In the canvas, select a linear edge, axis or sketch line to place the axis.

4. Click OK.

The new construction axis displays in the canvas, along the linear edge or sketch curve you selected.

Tips

• You can only create one construction axis at a time.
• Create construction axes when you want to reference an axis or edge that does not exist and is not one of the 3 default axes.
• The edge you select must be a linear edge.
• Use an Axis Through Edge when you want to reference the linear extension of an existing edge.
