Construction geometry
The tools in the Construct panel let you create construction planes, construction axes, and construction points as reference geometry in Fusion.
Construction planes
Construction planes help you create sketches and bodies where planar faces do not already exist. You can use construction planes as a reference as you create geometry outside the default planes or existing planar faces in your design. You can also use construction planes as input for other commands, like the cutting tool for the Split Body command.
You can use the following commands to create construction planes as reference geometry:
- Offset Plane : Creates a construction plane at a specified distance from an existing face or plane.
- Plane At Angle : Creates a construction plane at an angle relative to an edge or axis.
- Tangent Plane : Creates a construction plane tangent to a cylindrical face.
- Midplane : Creates a construction plane an equal distance from two existing faces or planes.
- Plane Through Two Edges : Creates a construction plane that passes through two edges or axes that are in the same mathematical plane.
- Plane Through Three Points : Creates a construction plane through three points or vertices.
- Plane Tangent To Face At Point : Creates a construction plane tangent to a cylindrical face, at a point on the face.
- Plane Along Path : Creates a construction plane normal to a specific point along a path.
Construction axes
Construction axes help you create sketches and 3D geometry in relation to an edge that does not already exist, or isn't available to select on existing geometry.
You can use the following commands to create construction axes as reference geometry:
- Axis Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus : Creates a construction axis through the center of a cylinder, cone, or torus shape.
- Axis Perpendicular At Point : Creates a construction axis through a face at a selected point.
- Axis Through Two Planes : Creates a construction axis where two planes intersect.
- Axis Through Two Points : Creates a construction axis through two points or vertices.
- Axis Through Edge : Creates a construction axis by selecting a linear edge.
- Axis Perpendicular To Face At Point : Creates a construction axis, perpendicular to a surface or plane, at a selected point.
Construction points
Construction points help you created sketches and 3D geometry in relation to a specific reference point that does not already exist, or isn't available to select on existing geometry.
You can use the following commands to create construction points as reference geometry:
- Point At Vertex : Creates a construction point at a specific vertex.
- Point Through Two Edges : Creates a construction point at the intersection or extended intersection of two edges.
- Point Through Three Planes : Creates a construction point at the intersection or extended intersection of three planes or faces.
- Point At Center Of Circle/Sphere/Torus : Creates a construction point at the center of a circular face, sphere, or torus.
- Point At Edge And Plane : Creates a construction point at the intersection or extended intersection of a linear edge or axis and a plane or face.
- Point Along Path : Creates a construction point at a specified distance along a path.
