Create a plane perpendicular to a face at a point

Learn how to use the Perpendicular Plane Tangent To Face At Point tool to create a construction plane that is perpendicular to a plane or face in Fusion.

1. On the toolbar, select Construct > Perpendicular Plane .

   The Construction Geometry dialog displays, Type is set to Plane and Method is set to Perpendicular Plane.

2. Select an Extent Type option to establish the end point of the plane.

3. In the canvas, select the plane or face.

4. Select the point.

5. Click OK.

The new construction plane displays in the canvas, perpendicular to the face you selected at the point you selected.

Tips

• Create construction planes when you want to create sketches that do not lie on one of the 3 default planes.
• Use construction planes as the input for other tools, like the cutting tool for the Split Body tool.
• Use a Perpendicular Plane when you want to make the location easier to select.
