Create a point along path

Learn how to use the Point Along Path tool to create a construction point at a distance along a path in Fusion. The path can be an edge, sketch line, curve, or chain of connected edges.

  1. On the toolbar, select Construct > Point Along Path point along path icon.

The Construction Geometry dialog displays, Type is set to Point and Method is set to Along Path.

  2. In the canvas, select an edge, sketch line, curve, or chain of connected edges to use as the Path.

  3. Select the Extent Type option to specify the construction point's position.

    • Proportional: Specify the distance as a value from 0 to 1 along the path.
    • Physical: Specify the distance as a physical measurement.
  4. Drag the Distance manipulator handle in the canvas, or specify an exact value. You can move past the end of the path or chain to place the point outside the selected geometry, and drag back to return the point onto the path or chain.

  5. Click OK.

The new construction point displays in the canvas at the distance you specified along the path or past its end.
