Point along path
Learn how to use the Point Along Path command to create a construction point at a specified distance along a path in Fusion.
Create a point on a sketch path or edge.
On the toolbar, select Construct > Point Along Path .
The Point Along Path dialog displays.
In the canvas, select an edge to use as the Path.
In the dialog, select a Distance Type:
- Proportional: Specify the distance value as a proportion of the path.
- Physical: Specify the distance as a physical measurement.
Drag the Distance manipulator handle in the canvas, or specify an exact value.
Click OK.
The new construction point displays in the canvas, at the distance that you specified along the path.
Tips
- You can only create one construction point at a time.
- Create construction points when you want to reference a point that does not exist.
- Use the Proportional distance type when you want the location of the construction point to adjust when you change the size and shape of the path.
- Use the Physical distance type when you want the location of the construction point to remain at a fixed distance along the path when you change the size and shape of the path.
- Uncheck Tangent Chain if you don't want to automatically select tangentially connected geometry.
