Insert a DXF file

Use Insert DXF to place a DXF file in your design.

The Insert DXF tool, imports a DXF file into the current design.

  1. In the Design workspace, select Insert > Insert DXF insert dxf icon.

    The Insert DXF dialog displays.

  2. In the canvas, select a planar face to place a sketch.

  3. In the Insert DXF dialog, navigate to and select a DXF file to insert.

    The DXF displays in the canvas and the DXF origin is placed at the sketch origin.

  4. Specify details to adjust the DXF relative to the image origin:

    • Units: Specify the units to scale the imported DXF.
    • Select an Insert Mode:
      • Single Sketch Inserts the layers selected in the DXF layers list into one sketch.
      • One Sketch per Layer Inserts each layer selected in the DXF Layers list into individual sketches.
    • X Distance: Positive values move geometry to the right of the origin, negative to the left.
    • Y Distance: Positive values move geometry above the origin, negative below the origin.
    • DXF Layers: All layers are checked by default. Uncheck layers you don't want to insert.
    • Control Point Frame: Check to access to the control point frame to modify the geometry.
  5. Click OK to insert.

The DXF is inserted into a new sketch and displays in the canvas.
