Use Insert DXF to place a DXF file in your design.

The Insert DXF tool, imports a DXF file into the current design.

  1. In the Design workspace, select Insert > Insert DXF. A sketch is not required.

  2. If there is no active sketch, select a plane or sketch to use for DXF data. If you select a plane, a sketch is automatically created.

  4. The DXF origin is placed at the sketch origin.

  5. Use the manipulators or enter values in the Insert DXF dialog to specify the parameters relative to the image origin.

    • Units: The imported document units are used.
    • Insert Mode: Choose either to have all geometry in one sketch or to have geometry on one sketch per DXF layer.
    • X Distance: Positive values move geometry to the right of the origin, negative to the left.
    • Y Distance: Positive values move geometry above the origin, negative below the origin.
    • DXF Layers: All layers are selected by default. Deselect those you do not want to use.
    • Control Point Frame: for use with splines, provides access to the control point frame for modifying the geometry.
  6. When ready, click OK to place the geometry.
