Manage the threads library

Use Manage Threads Library to browse, create, edit, and delete custom thread definitions for your hub in Fusion. Custom threads sync to hub members automatically and are available in the Thread and Hole tools.

Note: Thread Library is rolling out gradually. Custom threads are stored in your hub and sync automatically for hub members. The Manage Threads Library command displays when the feature is available for you.

Built-in thread definitions remain in the Public Library. Custom definitions you create are stored in Hub Libraries.

Open the threads library

  1. Open the library using one of the following methods:

    • On the toolbar, click Tools > Utility > Manage Threads Library.

    • In an active Thread or Hole command, click the more menu next to the Threads Library selector, then click Manage Threads Library.

      The threads library window displays.

Browse and select a thread

  1. In the library window:

    • Enter a term in Search to filter the list.
    • Select All standards / All units to filter by standard and unit type.
    • Select Hub Libraries or Public Library to choose which library to browse.
    • Use breadcrumbs to move through categories.

  2. Select a thread definition in the list.

  3. Click Select to apply the selection, or Close to exit without changes.

    When you open the library from an active Thread or Hole command, Select applies the chosen thread to the command when it is compatible.

Create a custom thread

  1. Open the threads library.
  2. Set the library filter to Public Library.
  3. Browse to a thread definition to use as a starting point.
  4. Right-click the thread, then select Copy and Edit.
  5. In the copy dialog, choose a destination hub library, then click OK.
  6. In the thread item view, specify values such as Designation, Size, Thread Type, Thread Pitch, and Class.
  7. Click Save.

The new custom thread is stored in your hub and becomes available in the Thread and Hole tools.

Edit a custom thread

  1. Open the threads library.
  2. Set the library filter to Hub Libraries.
  3. Browse to and select the custom thread to edit.
  4. In the thread item view, change the thread properties.
  5. Click Save.
Note: Editing a custom thread in the library does not update thread or hole features that already use that definition in the active design. Avoid editing threads that are in use unless you are sure you no longer need the original definition.

Delete a custom thread

  1. Open the threads library.
  2. Set the library filter to Hub Libraries.
  3. Browse to the custom thread to delete.
  4. Right-click the thread, then select Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.
Note: Deleting a custom thread from the library does not change thread or hole features that already reference it in the active design. Avoid deleting threads that are in use unless you are sure you no longer need them.
